ENTERPRISE MERCHANT PLUG-IN (MPI)
Enabling Verified by Visa and Mastercard 3D Securecode Payer Authentication
Our Enterprise MPI is a proven authentication solution providing realtime cardholder authentication during
the online shopping process. The Verified by Visa and MasterCard
3D SecureCode payer authentication systems have been designed to protect e-commerce merchants from on-line fraudsters.
The major benefit of using our MPI is that it allows the merchant to shift the liability for fraudulent
transactions when they have been authenticated under Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode or
JCB J/Secure. We can search for particular transactions and determine if authentication was successful. If
there is a disputed transaction and the transaction was authenticated, the MPI can retrieve the
transaction "signature" for the purposes of liability shift.
The MPI accepts authentication requests from the merchant in the form of a
web request or an API call. It then handles all authentication messaging and communication on behalf of
the merchant and then transfers control back to the merchant for normal authorization & processing.
This segregates the VbyV, 3D Secure and JCB J/Secure process from the existing authorization process and therefore requires minimal changes
to the merchant's existing system during implementation.

The GREEN arrow represents the normal online shopping process. The BLUE arrows represent the actions
preformed by the MPI and finally the BROWN arrow represents the bank to buyer authentication process.
